This was a spontaneous trip and one of my most treasured moments of my time in Western Canada. I decided as I was passing through Banff to contact a friend I hadn’t seen for six years. Her response was to invite me on a hike with her friends. I was nervous it would be an odd catch up but it was such a perfect 24 hours. Beautiful people, beautiful scenery and just a wholesome experience.
They had booked the Wheeler hut through ACC and planned on hiking the Glacier Crest. We packed in to the hut, dropped our gear and started out on the trail of 1000 switchbacks. The snow started about half way up the track but only became knee deep once we were out of the woodlands and in the alpine area. Luckily the sun was shining and being cold wasn’t really an issue until we stopped. It was incredible to see the glacial ice and unlimited views across Roger’s Pass.
